Providing licenses, promoting cures

Helping dedicated scientists on the continent of Africa to reduce the suffering of millions afflicted with diseases such as AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis is the mission of FlowJo Africa. In 2005 a colleague of ours went to South Africa for a cytometry workshop, armed with 30 one year licenses for FlowJo for all the participants. From that experience FlowJo Africa was born. What started as a single trip to a cytometry training workshop has grown into a program that totals 592 licenses provided to researchers in 21 African countries. This effort to reduce suffering and lessen the financial hardship experienced by many institutions continues, and FlowJo Africa provides free FlowJo licenses to anyone conducting research within the African continent.

Often giving away the licenses is not enough. For this reason our Application Scientists have made numerous trips to Africa, sharing and promoting the science of flow cytometry in labs throughout the continent. During their visits Application Scientists provide researchers with information on flow cytometric data analysis techniques and instruction on using FlowJo. To date, Application Scientists have provided 17 seminars in 9 countries where connections have been fostered and ideas shared. FlowJo Application Scientist with Researchers

Providing over $1 million dollars in licenses to labs in Africa and helping researchers build their skill sets is the least we can do to show our commitment to curing devastating diseases that have afflicted so many people. We remain committed to providing free licenses to African researchers in the future and hope that our message will spread.
