The Edit function creates a spreadsheet interface to support editing of multiple file headers at one time. With this approach it is convenient to fix common changes to a large number of files, and to handle the experiment comprised of multiple tubes in a unified view.

If you make changes to a keyword, they are not saved back to the files until you explicitly issue the Save Changes To Files... command from the file menu. ProJo will generally save the changes into the original files. To make a copy of all of the files in the set, use the command Save Changes To... which is similar to the Save As... function in most programs.

Favorite & Recent Changes

There are two popup menus that provide additional techniques for performing the same changes to multiple areas of your protocol:

The first menu is called Favorites. It contains a list of text strings that you specifically designate that you want the program to save for reuse. You can add a list to your favorites by clicking the Plus key, or you can edit the list of Favorites via the command in the Protocol menu: Edit Favorites... (shown below). When Add Favorites command is invoked, the first selected cell is added to the bottom of the favorites list. Once you've added a string to the Favorites menu, choosing it from the menu will set all selected cells to that string. The items in the Favorites list are stored in the applications configuration information and persists across windows.

The Recent list sets values similarly, but it is built automatically from the changes already made in the current session. The most recent value set to a cell will be the topmost string in this list, followed by the change made previously, and so on. The items in the Recent list are forgotten when the window is closed.

As a default, about a dozen or so of the most common keywords will appear as columns in the Edit window. You can edit the set of which ones appear by clicking on the key button in the top right corner

Alternately, you can select Edit Keyword List... from the Protocol menu. Either way, you will see the dialog below, which is used to choose the set of keywords which are visible in the editor.
