Intel Mac
FlowJo Versions 6 and 8 run well on Intel Macs.
We're excited about the new intel architecture and continue to develop and support the latest hardware from Apple Computers. FlowJo 6 and 8 run on Intel Macs flawlessly.
Version 8 runs native on the Intel machines, V6 and V4 run in Rosetta mode.
V6 authenticates with Intel Mac through existing dongles without a problem. Your current FlowJo will also run fine with a serial number on the new machines.
FlowJo performance:
We compared the performance on several tasks between the G5 Mac and the Intel Mac, and between newer and older versions of FlowJo.
The Computers:
2.0GHz x2 G5, 2GB RAM
FlowJo Versions 4.6.2, 6.4.7, 8.1
2.0GHz x2 x86, 2GB RAM
Same versions as above.
The Tasks:
Task 1 - Add 1GB of 3 color FCS2 files to a template containing a branched 20 gate structure. The template adds the gates and calculates all statistics in the template.
Task 2 - Build a table with all above mentioned gates
Task 3 - Create a layout batch of 72 pages containing 1000 graphs, print output to PDF file

Conclusion... V8 is faster on either the G5 or Intel for any task in FlowJo. V6 and V4 will run on Intel Macs, but two- and five-fold slower than V8.
