Dongle Support

In the unfortunate event that your dongle "stops working", please do the following:

  1. Update your version of FlowJo. You can access downloads by clicking one of the operating system icons, at right.

  2. Except for mouse and/or keyboard, unplug other USB devices (iPods, hard drives, etc.)

  3. Safely eject the dongle and reset the preferences:

    4. PC: Start > My Documents ... look for Flowjo7.prefs or FlowJo75.prefs .... delete, and then empty trash

    Mac Finder > Using Finder, go to User > Library > Preferences > FlowJo Preferences.plist or com.treestar.flowjo.plist. Delete these, and empty the trash
  4. Restart the computer, plug the dongle back in and restart FlowJo.

  1. Is your dongle recognized by your PC or Mac? For PCs, look for the dongle drive in "My Computer". For Macs, look in the Devices area of a Finder window and/or on the Desktop. Mouse over for screenshot.

  2. Is your dongle detected by FlowJo? If FlowJo detects a non-working dongle, a common error message on the License Information screen is "A black dongle with serial number .... has been detected but is not valid". Please include this number in the Notes field below.

  3. Is your dongle named FJTHUMB? (case sensitive) Dongles must be named FJTHUMB to work. Rename if necessary.

  4. If your dongle is recognized by your computer, open the dongle. Is there a license.key file inside? A license.key file is required for the dongle to work.

  5. What is the 5 digit number written on your dongle's plastic key tab? This is the same as your Invoice Number, and will help speed any account related inquiries.
