Iterated Batching

GET WINDOWS VERSION GET MAC VERSION

Batch processes are available to save you time by allowing you to design prototype sample and then tell FlowJo to apply that prototype to groups or all samples.

Iterated batches are created by using staining panels or keywords combinations to generate reports that match your experimental goals. There are two ways to set your iteration for a batch: from the Layout Editor controls and from the Batch Report dialog. There are two main types of iterated batches: Keyword Value Pairs and Panel Size.

As with all batch operations, set up a prototype layout containing the plots, text, statistics, etc. you'll want to have displayed for all the samples in your batched set.

Iteration by Panel Size:

This is the easiest method of iterating. An example of this: you want to overlay two tubes and batch process the layout so that tube 2 is overlayed on tube 1 and then tube 4 overlays tube 3 etc. A more complex example: you have run two 96 well plates, and you want to overlay tubes and batch process the layout such that corresponding wells from the two plates are overlayed.

  • Select Panel as the iteration type (picture shows the iteration controls that are found embedded in the Layout Editor).
  • Set your panel size. In the example picture, panel size equals two so that FlowJo knows to overlay the samples in the correct order.
  • You can then cycle through your samples to see the results before running the batch by using the

    1. Design/apply gating scheme and statistics to a prototype sample in the workspace.

    2. Drag those gates/statistics onto all samples (batched gating).

    3. Drag prototype sample into Layout Editor.

    4. Customize layout as desired (add anotation, change color, font, add additional graphs from the same sample, etc.)

    5. Adjust page size as desired to fit the tiles.

    6. Click on the Batch icon in the Layout Editor to bring up the Batch Report Dialogue window.

    7. Choose an Output option (Print, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.)

    8. Set your geometry (e.g. 3 Rows, Across as shown at right)

    9. Click create.

More complex batching operations are illustrated here.
