There are several cases where you can hold down a modifier key (Shift, Contrl, ALT (or Option))to modify the meaning of the command or gesture. The following is a list of these modified functions.
If you are not familiar with FlowJo, there is no need to learn this list.
These are tips for power users to improve their efficiency with the software.
The clicking with the right mouse button will generally pop up a menu of the most likely commands.

In the Workspace:
- Alt-click toggles the selection of a row.
- Alt click toggles the selection of a row.
- Use the command: Select equivalent nodes (in the menu Edit) find the similar population across samples.
- Use to Export/Concatenate command to join for several tubes together. An addition parameter can be added to identify the original tube.
In the Graph Window:
- Alt click deletes vertices from polygons.
- Alt key turns quads to spiders.
- Alt drag to duplicate gate
- Ctrl-Alt on a vertex to duplicate it.
- Shift + 'open next pop' arrow to switch all graph windows to the next sample.
- Using Next/Previous graph. If you right-click while cycling through graph windows, every open graph window is cycled to the next or previous sample (the graph windows must be in sync with respect to the sample)
In the Layout Editor:
- Alt-drag to duplicate plots
- Right-click on any item to set its properties, change its order, copy, paste, etc.
- The key strokes L, T, R, B without any modifier key -- will align selected objects by their left, top, right or bottom edges, respectively.
- Alt-key while dropping a population will replace chart, not make an overlay
- Alt-key while you popup the right button menu to change the histogram overlay coloring, line style or weight for all the layers
- Shift-click to select objects underneath other objects
- Shift-key during resize constrains aspect ratio (First, start resizing. Then hold down shift key to constrain.)
- Ctrl-key toggles selection of items in the layout.
- When using the arrow keys to move the selection, hold down alt, ctrl and/or shift key to accelerate the movement.
