When you have more than one object
selected in the Layout Editor, you can align them relative to
each other. Click on the Align menu item to view the alignment
options:
There are several options for horizontal
and vertical alignment. For example, if two or more objects are
beside each other, choose Vertical Centers to align the graphs
by their centers. To distribute, choose either Horizontal Spacing
to place the graphs with equal spaces between the graphs or Horizontal
Centers to place the objects with their centers equal distances
apart. In addition, you can align by left, right, top or bottom.
"Tops" means the top of every object is at exactly the
same level.
The graphics and objects can be aligned
to a grid, which is computed from the width of the objects themselves.
The objects will be lined up into rows and columns according to
their current position, and then spaced by their edges within
the grid.
Group Command (under
the Object menu)
Once you have elements of your layout
positioned correctly, it may be desirable to Group the elements.
This converts all of the individual graphs, lines, boxes and text
into a single complex item that is more reusable and meaningful
in future experiments.
To create a group, either use the
arrow tool to encircle multiple items with a drag, or use the
arrow tool in conjunction with the shift keys to create a multiple
selection with successful clicking. Once multiple items are selected,
use the Group command in the Object menu. If you change your mind,
you can undo this by selecting the "Ungroup" command
in the Object menu.
